Johnny Drip Drip Baseball

What is Johnny Drip Drip? (JDD)

Johnny Drip Drip is an aquatic Wiffle ball hybrid sport that is built upon equal parts pageantry and competition. Each year four teams come together for a fierce contest which also doubles as a testament to friendship.

Rifle Lake, Michigan

With beautiful Rifle Lake as a backdrop, the entire event has grown into more of a spectacle each year. As the game has become more defined the players, fans, and production behind the scenes have taken it to another level!

How the Game Works

Established in 2020, JDD takes the familiar shape of baseball and moves the pressure onto the water. Batters start on the dock and aim their focus toward a floating raft. When the ball is live, drippers dive and swim for safety while defenders field and tag. All attention turns to the physical battle for the raft where every point comes from a successful Raft Mount.

Field of Play: the field is the dock, the raft, and two half bases. Invisible lines from the dock through the half bases mark fair and foul. Three underwater chairs sit at the pitcher spot and each half base.

Offense: on a ball in play the batter swims to a half base to be safe, or straight to the raft to try a Raft Mount and score. Only one swimmer can be safe on a half base at a time.

More than a game. A summer tradition.

JDD is part baseball, part summer retreat, and part lake day all presented through the lens of controlled chaos. The sport is competitive enough to crown a champion, but the camaraderie and spectacle of the weekend keep it loose enough to still feel like summer with friends.
